EU policies and funding programmes must take gender issues into account wherever possible. A Commission Communication outlines how this can be achieved in the major funding mechanisms: "Implementation of gender mainstreaming in the Structural Funds programming documents 2000-2006". The Communication contains background information, statistics and a policy overview concerning gender issues in employment and related areas.
