Opportunities for learning with Information and Communication Technologies - European Commission Report.
Date: 1-9-2006
ICT is fast making it possible for anyone to learn anywhere, anytime and anyhow. Any medium or device that can deliver information can potentially be used for learning, whether it be home PCs, laptops, mobile phones or digital TVs. New technologies bring new possibilities that would have been impossible a decade ago, such as blogging, text-messaging, podcasting and interactive TV. Content sources created by communities, such as Wikipedia can also play a part.
The European Commission's Institute for Prospective Techological Studies has produced a report based on a workshop, where the possibilities for ICT enhanced learning were discussed by European experts and practitioners. It reviews the trends and challenges facing learning in the knowledge-based society and summarises the potential of ICT in meeting those challenges.
