EU Expert Group Report "2010:A Europe Accessible for All"
Date: 3-12-2003
At the request of the EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, Mrs. Anna Diamantopoulou, an Expert Group on Accessibility has spent the past 12 months discussing ways to improve physical accessibility in EU Member States. The EU is eager to encourage efforts throughout Europe to remove access barriers to buildings, transport infrastructure and facilities, and to enhance coordination between all the actors and stakeholders who are responsible for accessibility. The Expert Group Report recommends a variety of policy measures and actions, that can be considered to make Europe's public buildings, schools, workplaces, cultural venues, sports centres, historical sites, et cetera, accessible for all its citizens by 2010.
