R. Selvakumar is a 24 year old Data Engineer from the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Having had polio as a child, his path through school and higher education was difficult but he was assisted by his resourceful parents. His own initiative and optimism also helped. Scorning wheelchairs or crutches, Selvakumar gets around by crawling. His talk, entitled "Information Technology - Enable for Differently Abled" addresses "The Digital Divide" from his unique perspective. He is a strong believer in extending IT education and training opportunities to disabled people in the mainstream higher education system, as a means to achieving equal employment and equal opportunities in Indian society.
