Sweden Moves to Extend Protection Against Discrimination

A new Act prohibiting discrimination came into force on 1 July 2003 in Sweden. The new Act extends effective protection against discrimination from working life and higher education to certain other areas of society. This act preceded the date set for the implementation of European Union Directive against discrimination that takes effect December 3 2003.
